  • What a lovely few days my husband, myself and our dog Charlie have just spent at Penny Black cottage. There was lots of
information, the cottage was immaculate and just the right size. We felt the hosts have gone that extra mile with their added touches of toiletries and a lovely welcome basket, it was like being at home. If you had a problem I am sure it would be sorted. Thankyou once again xxx

  • What can I say! After being welcomed by the owners and having a lovely chat, we got settled in with our 2 Welsh Terriers. Penny is just a perfect place to stay with great walks from the door. It was immaculate and spotlessly clean, very homely with lots of finishing touches, including a fantastic welcome hamper, which was very well received. A true home from home! We were very lucky with the weather and loved sitting in the garden looking across the countryside. We loved our stay and really hope to be back one day. Thank you! Louise, Ian, Paj & Kora.

  • Had a fantastic couple of days here. Great little spot. Jaine was very responsive and took great pride in ensuring that all the finer touches were made. A fab personalised welcome basket just put the icing on the cake!

Great hosts. Amazing location for both Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. Lovely little cottage with all feels of the country. I'd stay again. Many thanks for the personal welcome and the thoughtfulness in stocking the place up with little convenient things like birthday candles etc.

Just back from a long weekend at The Penny Black and how glad are we that we booked this little piece of heaven! Although on the main road that didn’t bother us and in no way detracted from the lovely setting of the garden which we thoroughly enjoyed throughout our stay. The cottage is pristine and beautifully presented. Comfortable and homely and we enjoyed trying the log burner despite the warm weather for added ambience. The welcome hamper is a lovely touch and very thoughtful and the personal welcome and pointers from the owners were very helpful! We visited the Waterfall Trail which I would recommend and spent a day in the village at the 1940’s fair and enjoying the local pubs. The Sunday Roast at the Wheatsheaf was very nice. We walked in to Ingleton on the second day which took about 20 minutes. Can’t say enough about this place, so glad we booked it. Thank you Jaine and Dave we will be back in the future.

  • TripAdvisor - We couldn't have found a better place for a 50th Wedding Anniversary. The owners Jaine and Dave were there to greet us on arrival and showed us around their delightful cottage and garden. It is a lovely spot with spectacular views, made even more perfect by the calls of curlews flying over on our first morning. The cottage is superbly equipped with every conceivable thing that anyone would need away from home. It is beautifully furnished, cosy and comfortable. Even 'tho it was June, this is England and we struck a wet, cold week but we lit the log burner - every thing provided - and ignored the weather outside. There is so much to see and do around the Ingleton area, great places to eat, wonderful walking and waterfalls. We both agreed that having stayed in lots of places over the past 50 years, Penny Black is our favourite

  • Guest Book - Great cottage, great location and a great goody box!
Had a lovely stay, area stunning, neighbours and locals all very welcoming and all four of us walked the 3 peaks!
Thank you Jaine for all your kind tips, advice and help! Will definitely be back! All the very best.....xxxx

TripAdvisor - We stayed here for 6 nights just before the Easter Hols, from the moment we booked to the end of our Stay Jaine was the perfect Host and always available at the end of a phone/email. Nothing was too much trouble and she gave us lots of advice and was very approachable. The Cottage is first class and each room is beautifully decorated with lots of nice little touches from a delicious goody basket received on arrival, Easter Eggs for both of us and doggy treats for Willow & Merlin, to the Radox Bubble Bath which was very much appreciated after walking the 3 Peaks, fluffy towels, beautiful bed linen, plenty of logs for the fire and WIFI. The area is stunning with so much to do, Ingleton Waterfall a must, 3 peaks on your doorstop or just a short drive away, Skipton is a lovely little town, Appleby by train just a few places to mention with lots of nice pubs and cafes too. We wouldn't hesitate to go back as Penny Black is a lovely cottage with beautiful views and conveniently situation, we simply had the best time and we can't thank Jaine and David enough, the Yorkshire Dales is in a beautiful part of the world, what you waiting for hurry up and book, you will not be disappointed!

Ingleton Falls Trail: wonderful, Ribblehead Viaduct + Whernside: spectecular, Dent: lovely village, impressive, Dentdale + Deepdale: spektakuläre Fahrt mit Gefälle im zweistelligen Bereich, rough and bleak, Sedburgh: wonderful book and school village. Penny Black: lovely, super ausgestattet, dog friendly, nice garden, private parking, welcome basket so nice, in der Nähe der A65, aber nicht wirklich störend, Cottage ist ideal für zwei Personen + Hund. Wir werden wiederkommen.

  • It was a darling haven complete with cozy fireplace + gracious hosts who awaited our late arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our cottage in the country! It was our retreat as we travelled the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District & over to Scotland. It was magically stocked with all that was needed. The welcome basket was amazingly perfect! We cannot thank you enough for the little details that were an outstanding touch to a perfect cozy cottage.

Penny is a fantastic little cottage, with such style and is so inviting to snuggle up on the sofa with the log burner on. The cottage has been decorated sympathetically and tastefully, with you not wanting for anything. Jaine left a wonderful welcome hamper which even included some treats for our Labrador Archie. I would recommend this cottage to anyone, it is in a great location to explore the area.

  • Penny Black is an absolutely gorgeous little cottage. We stayed there before and after doing the three peaks walk and it has all the comforts that you would after a long hike - comfy bed, big bathtub and giant fluffy towels. Jaine was an excellent host - she communicated well, check in was easy and we arrived to find a lovely basket of food and refreshments which had been thoughtfully prepared to accommodate any dietary requirements. Jaine's extra touches definitely made the stay a special one - would recommend to anyone hiking the three peaks and we would stay again.

  • Been visiting Ingleton for many years. So pleased to find this cottage, far enough out of the village to avoid crowds and lack of parking, but close enough to walk into Ingleton etc. Falls walk very dry this week but nice to see it different. Took lots of photos.

Hamish adored all the climbing and walking,we all had fantastic night sleeps. We lit the woodburner (so cosy) because of the rain. Dave, I managed to keep within the 'sliver bar' :) Will recommend.

  • Penny black is a gorgeous cottage. It’s been beautifully done out and there are lots of thoughtful touches added by the host. It’s very cosy and we very much enjoyed snuggling up in front of the fire after a hard days walking. It’s in a great location for exploring the dales, with lots of lovely walks right on your doorstep (with some great pubs en route). The local farm shop sells the most amazing food (and cakes!) to fuel up on. We only stayed a few days but I wish we’d stayed longer.

Would heartily recommend.

The cottage itself is the perfect place to chill after a long muddy day in the rain, and has all the amenities you would want. We'll definitely be booking up again!

Jaine was a great host, very helpful before and during our stay and left us a few little treats to welcome us. Ingleton is about 1 mile down the road and a lovely little village. The waterfalls walk was a lot of fun even in the rain! I would definitely recommend staying at Jaine's cottage and going off exploring the surrounding countryside during the day. Rebecca (Airbnb)
